AUCHINLECK Talbot boss Tommy Sloan says that "things need to change quick" amidst a six match winless run in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division.
A 1-0 loss to Troon FC on Saturday, November 30, means that the Beechwood Park side have not picked up three points since August 10 when they defeated Hurlford United.
Auchinleck have played six matches since and despite only losing on two occasions, have drawn four games in that time.
After failing to score on Saturday, Sloan says that finding the back of the net on a consistent basis could be the key to getting out of their current slump in form.
He commented: “It’s disappointing, we are not scoring enough goals at the moment, that’s the way things are going.
“That needs to change quick because we are not in a great, healthy position in the league.
“We’re certainly not where we want to be so we need to get a bit more of a spark to us and create more openings.
“It’s more than a striker thing as well, it goes beyond that.”
Sloan conceded that the current fixture calendar is not helping his side - who came into this weekend's fixture off the back of a free week.
And after kickstarting their campaign with five league matches in 19 days, Talbot have played only the same amount of Premier Division fixtures in the 108 days that have followed - largely due to cup competitions being played.
However, the experienced boss was not keen to use the scheduling to excuse his side's performances - and he remains confident that his squad can turn the tide.
Sloan continued: “The fixture calendar doesn’t help, no one should be having free weeks at this time of year.
“It’s not ideal for anybody but we are not looking for excuses there. The team in general need to do better, we need to step up a bit.
“Once we score a few goals the confidence will come but at the moment that’s not quite there.
“That needs to change quickly and let’s hope that it’s this week.”
