DESPITE a complete wipe-out of football action last weekend there is still plenty to look forward to in East Ayrshire.
This Saturday, November 30, will see Muirkirk Juniors' West of Scotland Football League Second Division title challenge face its biggest test to date.
Ross Cusick's side will be taking on their nearest challengers this weekend, with Neilston the visitors to Burnside Park.
Only one point separates the pair heading into the fixture with both clubs having played 12 games so far.
Muirkirk are the leaders heading into the match having won 10 of their games so far this campaign, drawing one and facing defeat in only once this campaign.
The visitors boast an almost identical record having also won 10 times - though they have tasted defeat on two occasions thus far.
A win for Cusick's side would send a clear message heading into the second half of the 30 game season - that they are the team to catch.
A loss, however, would see the Burnside Park club surrender top spot for the first time since the opening games of the campaign.
A draw would see little movement in the table, though would provide some incentive for the chasing pack.
The Kirk are currently six points inside the promotion places and will be aiming to keep this intact as the season approaches its business end.
Kick off on Saturday is at an earlier time of 1.30pm.
Elsewhere in the county, three sides are still flying the East Ayrshire flag in the Scottish Junior Cup.
Lugar Boswell Thistle will hope to be the tournament's shock troops and have a home tie in their bid to reach the last 16.
The Jaggy Bunnets face a tough task in the form of Second Division outfit Larkhall Thistle who are one league above George Wallace's side.
Lugar will hope to use their home advantage to cause the upset at Rosebank Park when the match gets underway at 1.30pm.
A win would earn the East Ayrshire outfit a home tie against Benburb or Hermes.
Glenafton Athletic are also bidding to earn a place in the latter stages of the tournament and will travel to face Bathgate Thistle on Saturday.
Paul Paton's side will head into the match as favourites against the East of Scotland Second Division side.
However, Bathgate are a side in form and are currently amongst the promotion challengers in their own division. Kick off is also at 1.30pm.
A win would see the Glens take on Tranent or West Park United away from home in the next round of the tournament.
Meanwhile Darvel are still in the competition as they bid to retain the trophy they won last year.
It is a repeat of last year's final in this round as Michael Oliver's men travel to face Arthurlie.
Darvel will play at home against Vale of Leven or Johnstone Burgh should they win the tie.
