AUCHINLECK Talbot boss Tommy Sloan says his team need to get back to winning ways - despite being happy with his side's performance this weekend.
The Beechwood Park side were below their usual levels last time out as they left it late to pick up a point at home to Benburb.
This Saturday, November 9, it was another point apiece as Auchinleck played out a thrilling 2-2 against Gartcairn.
It was a game of two halves at Beechwood Park as Tommy Sloan's men trailed after the first 45.
However they bounced back after goals from Luke Gillies and Connor Boyd put the home side ahead just after the hour mark.
Unlike last weekend, it was Talbot's turn to concede late with the visitors levelling the tie with just over ten minutes left to play.
Neither side could find a winner with Auchinleck taking a point from a league match for the fifth time in nine matches so far this campaign.
“Overall, I was pretty pleased," Sloan told the club's media team after the match. "Especially in the second half, with the performance.
“We just had to be a bit smarter, move the ball a bit quicker and get bodies in the box. I didn’t think we did that very well in the first half, second half was much better.
“We had chances to make it three and we didn’t manage to take them so that was certainly disappointing – but not in terms of the performance.”
“It’s a bit disappointing at the end, getting ourselves in front and losing a goal from a set play.
“We were certainly better than we were last week, I felt, we just need to move on to next week.”
There is a return to cup action for Talbot next weekend, as they host Cumbernauld United in the South Challenge Cup on Saturday, November 16, with kick off at 2pm.
Following two consecutive draws, Sloan is looking to use the match to get a win on the board.
He added: “We want to remain in all the cups we are in and get a win on board, that’s two draws at home, we need to get back to winning ways.”
