ONLY one of Ayrshire's rugby sides have maintained their perfect start to the league season following the weekend's action.
It comes after two of the area's top teams from this campaign so far saw their unbeaten records fall in narrow defeats.
The only club to still boast a perfect nine wins from nine games is Ayr RFC - who still sit atop the National Premiership.
The Millbrae club have been imperious thus far, and continued their superb form with a 36-12 win away at Edinburgh Academical FC on Saturday, October 26.
It was also a record breaking win for the club - who made this season their best ever start to the Premiership campaign.
While fellow South Ayrshire club Marr RFC have not enjoyed the same fortunes at the beginning of their Premiership season.
After a 12-22 loss at home to Melrose Rugby, the Troon side remain third from bottom, and eight points adrift of the sides above.
Moving down the leagues and Garnock RFC are now without a win in four matches - after they lost their National Division Three match at home to Orkney RFC 61-31.
The result leave the Lochshore side third from bottom, though in an incredibly tight league table they remain only 11 points back of top spot.
Into National Division Four and Ardrossan Accies were the first Ayrshire side to see their unbeaten run come to an end at the weekend.
They hosted the only other club in the league who were yet to taste defeat, with Strathmore visiting the Memorial Field.
And in a tightly contested match, the visitors held on to win 17-12, bringing to an end a run which spans into last season.
Despite the loss, Ardrossan maintain top spot in the division by five points over their opponents - who have two games in hand.
The next unbeaten run to end was that of Kilmarnock in the West Region Division One.
After being given a scare last weekend, Lenzie managed to become the first side to beat the East Ayrshire club this season - winning 28-27.
The result means both sides now have identical records this season, though Killie remain top having claimed one more bonus point than Lenzie.
Elsewhere in the division and it was a great weekend for Cumnock RFC, who climbed the table courtesy of a 25-18 win away at East Kilbride RFC.
Cumnock have now risen to sixth position, just nine points back of third place.
In West Division Two, Carrick RFC have continued to mount pressure at the top of the table.
A resounding 67-10 victory at home to Loch Lomond/Helensburgh keeps them within seven points of leaders Strathendrick.
The table toppers travelled to Ayrshire this weekend, to face Irvine RFC, who despite a valiant effort fell to a 14-33 defeat at Marress.
In women's rugby, Ayr RFC continued their resurgence in West Division One by picking up their second straight victory.
In a challenging fixture away to Wigtownshire, they ran out narrow 12-10 winners and are now just one point away from moving off the bottom of the table.
Unfortunately for Irvine, they were on the wrong side of a narrow match at the weekend - as they lost 14-21 at home to Cartha Queens Park 2nd XV.
The result drags the North Ayrshire side towards the bottom positions - which they are now just one point clear of.
