Lugar Boswell boss George Wallace admits he couldn't have hoped for a better start to the season as his side picked up another victory.

His side came through a dramatic game with Finnart to win 2-1, which saw three players sent off, including two for Lugar as they hung on towards the end.

Goals from Jamie Donnelly and Adam Lowe turned the game on its head following Finnart's opening goal, but made life difficult for themselves as Donnelly and Ewan McIver were sent off.

Wallace says his side put themselves under pressure, but praised his goalkeeper for keeping them ahead late on.

He said: "They played some decent football but then got a man sent off, which I thought was a bit harsh.

"We then gave away a sloppy penalty to go behind, and I made a couple of changes at half time to try and get back into the game.

"We scored our two goals but then had two really sloppy sending offs which put us under a bit of pressure for the last 10 minutes. Our goalie made a huge save in the last minute which effectively won us the game."

Wallace admits he is delighted with his team's start to the season, after winning three of the opening four games.

He said: "I couldn't ask for more to start the season, the league is going to be so tight and every point counts.

"Teams have tipped us to get relegated and we want to make sure we're safe as early as possible.

"It's all about keeping the boys level headed and taking things one game at a time, and winning our home games which are so important."

Lugar head to Dalry on Wednesday for an all-Ayrshire clash, with the boss saying he would take a point on the night.

He added: "Dalry have been up and down, they have won and lost so far this season, and it's always a tricky place to go.

"We'll go there and sit tight and see how it goes, and if we can come away with a point i'll be happy."
