CUMNOCK boss John Doyle continued his squad rebuild at Townhead Park with the capture of another new face last week – and the Nock faithful didn't have to wait long for the latest new arrival at the club to have an impact.
Robbie Young's signing from Drumchapel United was announced on Friday morning – and little more than 24 hours later the new man fired a beauty into the top corner as 10-man Cumnock won 3-2 at home to Gartcairn.
Young's move to Townhead Park came just a month after the former Rob Roy and East Stirlingshire man was unveiled as a Drumchapel signing, while the 26-year-old has also played at college level in the United States for the Fort Lewis Skyhawks and Lander Bearcats.
Young's strike on Saturday was the meat in the sandwich of a Findlay Frye double which clinched full points for Doyle's men on Saturday – with the winner coming from the penalty spot in the 92nd minute after goals from Jack McIlveen and Jamie Taggart had hauled Cairn back level from 2-0 down, with Nock forced to play the last quarter with 10 men after Ryan Carnwath was sent off.
And the tough ties keep coming for Cumnock, with a trip to Darvel this Wednesday evening at 7.30pm, followed by Troon's visit to Townhead Park on Saturday, August 19 (KO 2pm).
