Cumnock Juniors FC may not be actually playing football right now but they’re certainly doing well in the cup.
The cup in question is the Donate a Ticket Cross-Country Cup.
We reported last week how CJFC made it into the semi-finals of the fundraising tournament by beating Glenafton Athletic.
Well the Nock are now into the final of the cup after their fans donated more matchday tickets than those of St Roch’s FC, with the Nock winning by 1109 to 768.
They now go through to the final against Bonnyrigg Rose, who narrowly beat Whitehawk Football Club by 357 to 347 in their semi-final match.
So far fans of CJFC have bought a total of 2393 tickets for the tournament.
A spokesman for Cumnock Juniors said:”The club has been blown away by the generosity of its supporters and would like to thank everyone who donated a ticket.”
Donate a Ticket was set up during the lockdown period as a way for some clubs to receive some financial support whilst the usual gate receipt money is not incoming. So far £245,426 has been raised for a total of 116 clubs.
