BEATING Petershill on Saturday was vital if Talbot are to have any chance of causing another Scottish Cup upset this weekend, according to talisman Mark Shankland.
Talbot ran out 7-0 winners against the Peasy and now they face a rematch against Hearts at Tynecastle seven years after the Jambos’ 1-0 fourth round win.
The Bot have seven games in hand on league leaders Hurlford and Shankland felt it was important to keep the winning mentality which has seen them win 28 of their 33 games this season going.
He said: “It was a league game and that’s your bread and butter. It was a good win and a good result looking into this big game.
“I was at the game the last time. It was a close game and Talbot maybe could have got something from it. Hopefully I’ll be able to play a part this time.
“People maybe just expect us to go and win now because the game was that close but it just doesn’t work like that unfortunately.
“The Hearts team was probably stronger back then but they are still a strong side now.
“They are probably in the top four or five biggest teams in the country.”
