GEORGE Robertson of Ochiltree Bowling Club and playing partner Mason Carson have lifted the under-17s Scottish Pairs title.
The teenagers, pictured far right with the trophy, were the only Ayrshire winners at the SYBA Under-17 Championships at Northfield Bowling Complex, Ayr, on Sunday, July 22.
George is just 14-years-old while Mason, who is with Coylton BC, is a year older.
A spokeswoman for Ochiltree BC said: “In what can only be described as an excellent and nerve wrecking final, they won the Scottish Pairs title in dramatic style.
“Both Mason and George are well deserved champions not only for their bowling but also for their conduct and sportsmanship towards each other and their competitors. Well done boys great achievement. You did yourselves and Ayrshire proud.”
There was more match action for the Robertsons on their home turf when Sharon and playing partner Kenny Lindsay beat her husband and son, Jim and George Robertson, to win the recent Jack Craig £400 Open Pairs tournament.
Club vice-president Willie Watson is pictured making the presentation on behalf of sponsor Jim Craig.
President Jim Robertson and all the members of Ochiltree Bowling Club would like to sincerely thank Jim Craig for his continued generous sponsorship.
Special thanks also to the caterers and bar staff for keeping everyone well fed and watered and to all the members and visitors who played and helped to make the tournament another great success.
Ochiltree BC’s next tournament is the Jimmy Bruce Open Triples on Sunday, August 12. Text entry with name, club and contact number to 07800 975959.
