TWO cup finals and two goals. Auchinleck Talbot's Craig McCracken certainly knows how to score on the big occasions.
He followed up his winner in the Ardagh Cup earlier this season by scoring a dramatic last-minute winner at Rugby Park as Talbot beat Hurlford United 3-2 to lift the Junior Cup.
Having twice fell behind to their Blair Park opponents – and losing 2-1 after 90 minutes – both Graham Wilson and McCracken felt they had scored the most important goals of their careers.
After the match, Wilson said: "The equaliser was the biggest goal I've ever scored.
"For the first 15/20 minutes [of the second half] we were on top then they get the goal and after that it's just a blur. Everything was just mental after that. The last five minutes was crazy."
There were 91 minutes on the clock when Mark Shankland's corner found Wilson free in the box. Then, two minutes later, he did the same for McCracken.
"It was a great delivery by Mark," he said.
"It felt brilliant to see it go in. I was surprised though – I wasn’t picked up. I can't explain how good it felt, it was brilliant.
"That’s the biggest goal I’ve ever scored. I scored the winner in the Ardagh Cup final earlier this season but that was nothing like this one. So two cup finals, two goals. That was my first Scottish Cup appearance this year so it feels pretty good."
With two trophy's already lifted, Talbot have the chance to win an unprecedented clean sweep and take home six pieces of silverware.
They will have the chance to win the West of Scotland Super League Premier Division on Saturday when they face arch rivals Cumnock at Townhead Park in their last league match.
However, Talbot had the chance to win the 1988/89 Ayrshire Division One title in their last match against Cumnock and – despite leading 2-1 against nine men – the Nock scored two late goals to win 3-2 and hand the title to Irvine Meadow.
