CUMNOCK RFC’s P4 squad were invited up to Scotstoun Stadium by the Glasgow Warriors for the second leg of the 1872 Cup derby against rivals Edinburgh.
Frozen and poor playing conditions on the back pitches at Scotstoun meant the boys were unable to take part in a pre-match tournament against P4 teams from Ayr, Cambuslang, GHA, Dalziel, Whitecraigs, GHK and Lenzie RFC.
Unfazed, the boys looked forward to forming the Guard of Honour and they even got to meet Glasgow Warriors’ mascot Clyde the Coo.
Sadly, due to the unexpected stadium evacuation during the last minutes of the first half of the game, all the mini teams were unable to take to the main pitch at half time to showcase their mini rugby skills.
Despite this setback, the P4 Cougars look forward to appearing at Scotstoun in the near future.
Training and games for the P4s and all ages groups from P1 to U16 starts back after the festive period with micro training at Catrine Games Hall from 10am and mini training on Thursday, January 11 at Townhead from 6pm.
Cumnock RFC Youth Section welcomes any boys or girls keen to give rugby a try.
