AN intergenerational boatbuilding workshop in Auchincruive was visited by South Scotland MSP Carol Mochan.
The workshop is one of many initiatives in the area which is sponsored by Generations Working Together, a charity working on intergenerational practice in Scotland.
Ms Mochan’s visit came after she made an impassioned speech in the Scottish Parliament in April about intergenerational working.
In her speech, Ms Mochan touched on the importance of intergenerational working in tackling health inequalities, another matter which has featured regularly in her parliamentary contributions.
During her visit to the workshop, the MSP was shown how boats were made by members of the workshop.
The Scottish Labour politician said: “I was delighted to attend the intergenerational boatbuilding workshop in Auchincruive this week.
"It was great to see people from all walks of life come together for a good day’s work like that.
“I am grateful for the support of organisations like Generations Working Together for their initiatives in Ayrshire.
“The work that the organisations and individuals associated with GWT are doing is essential in curing many of the great epidemics of our society."
Other intergenerational projects supported by GWT include The Garrick, a new dementia-friendly housing development in Stranraer.
