AN AYRSHIRE charity which supports people across the region held a special event in Irvine to celebrate a milestone anniversary.

Break The Silence, founded in October 2004, provides professional counselling support in East and North Ayrshire, helping those affected by childhood sexual trauma, their partners, and family members.

Last month, trustees, staff, and volunteers gathered at the Harbour Arts Centre to reflect on 20 years of service.

Sharon Belshaw, CEO-Clinical, said: "Our staff, trustees, and volunteers are all dedicated and committed to providing the best possible support to those affected by childhood sexual trauma.

"Celebrating the significant 20 years of Break the Silence gives us the drive to ensure that we continue to deliver a service that is a Centre of Excellence for our amazing clients for another 20 years."

The charity achieved British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Service Accreditation in January 2024 and was awarded Ayrshire Chamber’s prestigious Business Excellence Award in February 2024.

Lesley Craig, CEO-Operations, said: "The commitment and passion of our team is what makes the organisation what it is today.

"We are so lucky to work with a very special group of people and are humbled by the opportunity to support our clients towards healthier, improved lives."
