AN AUCHINLECK community group is urging residents to attend its open day later this month.

Auchinleck Community Development Initiative (ACDI) is hosting the open day on Tuesday, November 26 from 2pm to 8pm at the Boswell Community Centre.

The event is part of a new strategy to try and regenerate the community by encouraging people to use the community centre.

People can attend groups already operating or suggest their own ideas for activities or find out about the work of ACDI in the past, present and future.

Christopher Stakim, newest recruit to the staff of the organisation, said: ”As a former board member of ACDI, I recognised the work that has been done to try and breathe new life into our wee village.

"I also found, however, that a lot of people are unaware of what goes on within the Boswell Centre and the activities and services the organisation provides.

"That’s why we’re giving residents the chance to come along and see for themselves what’s on offer and discover how they can help by giving us their ideas or maybe even volunteering to help run our current events."

Live background music by Strings n Things will be provided throughout the day and the various groups who meet in the centre will be on hand to tell you all about their own particular activities.

Christopher added: “This is a unique chance for the people of Auchinleck to influence much needed changes within the village so we urge them to come along and have their say.”
