MUIRKIRK darts star Cameron Menzies has been handed an extra incentive ahead of his first-ever PDC major quarter-final.

Cammy earned his spot in the last eight of the Grand Slam of Darts on Wednesday, November 13, night when he won a nail-biting knockout match against English star James Wade 10-9.

He is now set to face Northern Ireland's Mickey Mansell for a spot in the semis on Friday (November 15), with the match to be shown live on Sky Sports.

The day before the match, massive Rangers supporter Menzies was given a quick call and wished luck from one of the club's biggest ever stars.

Former Gers captain Barry Ferguson called the Muirkirk maestro alongside former footballers stars of the Open Goal podcast - Paul Slane and Kevin Kyle - to pass on their well wishes.

Ferguson also promised Menzies a match worn shirt - from his recent appearance for the Glasgow club at the Scottish Masters tournament - though set Cammy a task to claim the top.

On a video of the call shared on social media, Ferguson said: "Good luck Cammy, I'll give you my strip from the game - but only if you win!"
