RESIDENTS of Sanquhar gathered at the weekend to remember those who died during wartime.

A wreath-laying ceremony took place on Remembrance Sunday to honour those who have been to battle.

The day stands to remember individuals who have served to protect our way of life since the First World War.

The Armistice was signed at 11am on November 11, 1918, putting an end to the First World War- marking what is now known as Armistice Day.

Local representatives, veterans, groups and residents gathered at Sanquhar War Memorial on Sunday as deputy lord lieutenant of Dumfries, Gordon Dickie, lay down a wreath ahead of a moment of reflection.
