EVERY year hundreds of people across East Ayrshire gather to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday, and this year will be no different.

The Armistice was signed at 11am on November 11, 1918, bringing an end to the First World War.

Members of the community join local organisations, veterans, and elected members in paying tribute on the closest Sunday to November 11.

A number of events and services are planned across our area for Sunday, November 10.

Here is a list of the Remembrance Day services set to take place in the area:

Auchinleck

  • Church Service: 11.30am at Auchinleck Parish Church
  • Time of Wreath Laying at War Memorial: 11.15am in the grounds of the Auchinleck Parish Church 

Benwhat

  • Time of wreath laying at War Memorial: There is an informal arrangement for an elected member to lay a wreath here

Catrine

  • Church Service: 10am at Catrine Parish Church
  • Time of wreath laying at War Memorial: 2pm at the Catrine War Memorial

Cumnock

  • Church Service: None
  • Time of wreath laying at War Memorial: 2.20pm in the Garden of Remembrance - wreath laid by the Provost at 2.30pm - service and wreath laying at the War Memorial in Glaisnock Street Cemetery

Dalrymple

  • Parade: 10.30am - meet at the White Horse pub, then piped march to the War Memorial
  • Church Service: None
  • Time of Wreath Laying at War Memorial: 11am

Dalmellington

  • Parade: Starts from the Scout Hall at approximately 1.15pm
  • Church Service: 11.30am to 12.30pm at Dalmellington Parish Church
  • Time of wreath laying at War Memorial: Approximately 1.30pm at the War Memorial, Carsphairn Road

Drongan

  • Church Service: 11.30am at Schaw Kirk, Drongan   
  • Time of wreath laying at War Memorial: 11.30am at the War Memorial within the Church

Glenbuck

  • Time of wreath laying at War Memorial: As per arrangements for Muirkirk (approximately 11.30am at War Memorial, Main Street)

Lugar

  • Church Service: 10am at Lugar Parish Church

Mauchline

  • Parade: Approximately 12.15pm - leaving Cowgate at 12.30pm, proceeding to War Memorial for 12.40pm
