POSTAL votes for the upcoming East Ayrshire Council by-elections will be arriving soon.

Voting will take place later this month to find a new Doon Valley councillor, as well as a new Kilmarnock West and Crosshouse councillor.

The by-elections were sparked by July’s general election victories in the Kilmarnock and Loudoun and Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock constituencies for then-Labour councillors Lillian Jones and Elaine Stewart.

MPs are not barred from keeping their council seats, but are generally expected to step down.
