A SECTION of road between Dalmellington and the South Ayrshire border will be closed off for three weeks to allow bridge maintenance work to take place.
Doon Bridge will be shut off from Monday, with a 27-mile diversion via the likes of Dalrymple and Kirkmichael in place.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA), which manages non-trunk roads on behalf of East and South Ayrshire councils, will undertake the work for 10m either side of the bridge, with a full closure in place for the duration.
Work is set to begin on Monday, November 4 at 7am, with the bridge to be closed until Monday, November 25 at 5pm.
ARA says the days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.
A diversion is in place via the A713 from Dalmellington, through Patna and towards Hollybush, then along the B7034 to Dalrymple, and onto the B742 and B7045 to Kirkmichael and Straiton, before re-joining the B741 towards Doon Bridge, and vice versa.
