A CUMNOCK man is accused of carrying out sexual and physical assaults on two women in alleged street attacks earlier this year.
Andrew Alan Cassells pleaded not guilty to three assault charges, one sexual, against two women in Townhead Street, Cumnock, when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court.
The 40-year-old is alleged to have approached one woman and attempted to engage her in conversation on August 4 this year.
Crown prosecutors claim he then made advances towards the alleged victim and slapped her on the bottom.
It is alleged that Cassells then repeatedly punched the woman on the head and body, before struggling with her to her injury.
He faces a third charge of assaulting a second female, having allegedly attempted to punch her, struggled with her and pulled her hair.
The procurator fiscal's complaint states he also caused fear and alarm, shouted and swore as well as resisted police officers in the execution of their duty.
Defence solicitor Robert Logan said his client pleaded not guilty to the allegations during a bail hearing.
Bail was granted for Cassells, of Tower Street, Cumnock, on the condition he does not approach or contact either of the two woman named on the complaint.
He will face the allegations again at a later date.
