East Ayrshire Strategy for Youth based in Cumnock held a presentation ceremony to mark the achievements of local people involved in the project in autumn 2004.
Drongan Bowling Club raised £1,450 with a charity concert for the Beatson Oncology Unit in Glasgow in October 2004. Pictured are Club Secretary W. Caine with champion fund-raiser Sean Muir and H. Muir on the night.
A Norwich Union Star:track Athletics event ran for a week in the Cumnock Academy Games Hall. These youngsters stepped up to join in the fun.
Peter Westwood of the Burns Federation visited Mauchline and Kilmarnock in 2004 and met East Ayrshire Provost Jane Darnbrough. He presented her with a copy of his new book: Jean Armour, My Life and Times with Robert Burns.
Bellsbank Primary welcomed a group of Romanian students to the school in autumn 2004. The Doon Valley pupils had helped raise £1,000 to help with a school building programme in the impoverished country and the students dropped by to say thanks on a visit to Scotland.
The Chronicle photographer was invited to meet the kids at Greenmill Nursery in November 2004. And the smiles on faces showed just how much they enjoyed the early days of schooling.
