NITHSDALE Wanderers held a commemorative evening recently to remember the team who won the Division Three title 100 years ago.
The night celebrated the Nithsdale side that claimed success in the third tier of Scottish football in the 1924-25 season.
The title win held the Sanquhar club in the company of Rangers who won Division One and Dundee United who won Division Two.
Evening entertainment was provided by Stewart Park, who delivered the history of the club, before John Watson, Ian Burgoyne and Graeme McLatchie delivered what was a truly entertaining talk.
Nithsdale players from that time went on to play for the likes of Rangers, Celtic, Third Lanark and Queen's Park.
Bill Shankly's brothers, John and Alec, played with The Dale prior to their title success before both moved on to play for Portsmouth.
Sanquhar man David Nivison was in attendance with his son Stuart at the evening. David's grandfather was the manager in 1924-25 when Nithsdale won the league and he took along the medal presented to his grandfather.
The club's committee said: "A massive thanks to Upper Nithsdale Community Trust Kirkconnel & Kelloholm and Sanquhar for the funding to celebrate 100 years of winning the Scottish Division Three title in 1924-25.
"We would like to thank all who attended and hope they all enjoyed the evening and a big thank you to the top table who entertained the guests."
