A MAN has been charged in connection with an alleged assault in Sanquhar last month.
Police had said that a 21-year-old man had been taken to hospital for treatment following an incident on Castle Street at around 5am on Sunday, September 1.
The man has since been released from hospital.
Now, officers have provided an update to say that a 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following a report of a man being assaulted on Castle Street in Sanquhar on Sunday, September 1, a 24-year-old man has been charged in connection.
“A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
