APPROVAL has been granted for a new eco-house to be build on the outskirts of Dalmellington.
Plans submitted to East Ayrshire Council's planning department by BKDS Architectural Design Services Ltd will see the three-bedroom home be situated on a stretch of the B741 road towards New Cumnock.
The one-storey home is set to comprise of a flat roof and a courtyard within the centre of the building.
A submission for the house, which was put forward back in July, was approved by officials last week.
Developers say they plan to utilise the sunlight to reduce energy consumption of the home, with windows located to take advantage of the sun path.
A design statement lodged with the plans states: "Visual inspiration for landscaping and natural look utilising a mixture of native Scottish trees, grasses and stones.
"We intend to do extensive planting to the west of the site to create a small forestry to add to the natural environment already present- this will be hugely inspired by surrounding ancient woodlands.
"The client's concept was for a clean, simplistic and modern dwelling set in the landscape to compliment the natural surroundings.
"Initial discussions focused around the impact the dwelling would have in the landscape, there was a focus to keep the ridge height low to minimise this impact."
