A CHARITY shop in Mauchline is due to close its doors, the Chronicle understands.

A review is under way into the viability of Ayrshire Hospice stores across the region, with two of the 10 stores set to close.

The Cumnock Chronicle understands that the Mauchline store on Kilmarnock Road will be one of the closures set to happen.

It is understood that the Kilwinning store will also close.

The charity last closed two of its stores back in 2019, when one of its Ayr locations shut, as well as its then-Saltcoats store shutting for good.

No date has been given for when the closures will officially happen.

A social media post said that the Mauchline store would be available for rent in the not-too-distant future.

The charity opened its Mauchline store back in 2021, after it had been occupied by Ayrshire Cancer Support.

An Ayrshire Hospice spokesperson said: “The Ayrshire Hospice is currently undertaking a review of its retail portfolio only.

"Today, our network of 10 shops across Ayrshire generates revenues of over £1 million annually.

"This review is ongoing and is being shaped by the current retail team staff and volunteers who have provided valuable input as we look to move forward.

"The outcome of these discussions will be communicated across the organisation over the coming days.”
