FIGURES have revealed the number of untaxed cars in local postcode areas that have been clamped since the start of last year.

Data splits the information into the amount of cars clamped in the total of 2023, as well as how many have been clamped up until June 2024.

The DVLA numbers show that the average number of vehicles clamped in the first half of 2024 is higher than the full of 2023.

For the KA5 postcode, which covers Mauchline, Catrine, Sorn and Tarbolton, there were seven vehicles clamped in 2023 for being untaxed, with three clamped so far in 2024.

(Image: PA) In KA6, which covers Drongan, Rankinston, Patna, Dalmellington, Waterside, Bellsbank, Hollybush and Dalrymple (as well as Mossblwon, Annbank and Coylton), 10 cars were clamped in 2023, with seven clampings reported for the 2024 figures.

For KA18, which covers Cumnock, Auchinleck, Ochiltree, New Cumnock, Muirkirk, Lugar and Logan, a total of 44 untaxed cars were clamped in 2023, with a further 27 so far in 2024.

In total, it means there were 61 clampings in these postcode areas in 2023, with 37 so far up until June this year.

A DVLA spokesperson said: “Whilst over 98 per cent of vehicles are taxed correctly, DVLA is committed to keeping untaxed vehicles off our roads.

 “We have a range of enforcement measures including fines and penalties and are working hard with our national wheel clamping partner to clamp untaxed vehicles.

 “It is easy for drivers to pay their vehicle tax, including using our quick and accessible online services or spread the cost using Direct Debit.”
