A CARE home in Cumnock had a fantastic bash to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Bute House Nursing Home residents, staff and family were joined on the day by our very own local Elvis, John Reid.

Pauline Hunter took over as manager of the home at the beginning of June, with Megan Nohar becoming the deputy manager just a few weeks prior.

Straight away, the pair set about trying to transform the atmosphere for the better, and make it a place people enjoy living.

Not wanting to miss out on a chance for celebrations, they held a grand party for the home's 30th anniversary at the end of September, with a great day for all the staff and residents.

Pauline said: “The party was a brilliant day for everyone at the home. The staff and all the residents had a wonderful day.

“We had food and champagne and we just had a good laugh and shared stories and things like that.

“It put smiles of folk’s faces and some of the residents who need a wee pick-me-up had a great day."

Shortly after taking over the home, Pauline and Megan were tasked with making improvements by the Care Inspectorate.

After taking some time to win over all the residents, they're certainly making a positive impact at the home now.

“We had loads of prizes donated for raffles and I’ve got enough for the Christmas party and we’ll do the same thing at Christmas.

“Days like these can make all the difference for the residents and staff and it just lifts the spirits a bit.

“We all thoroughly enjoyed the party and we’re looking forward to more days like this to have a good time.”
