RESIDENTS in Auchinleck are being warned of a possible doorstep scam taking place in the village.
East Ayrshire Trading Standards posted a warning on October 1 for people to guard against apparent cold callers.
According to the warning, the cold callers are claiming to be from Trading Standards and offering to carry out free roof checks.
The warning says that residents should not engage with cold callers who offer to conduct these checks unless a prior appointment has been made.
It adds: "If the person is a legitimate employee of East Ayrshire Council they will show their ID badge and will be happy to wait until you contact East Ayrshire Council to confirm who they are."
