THE killer of a Drongan teenager has had his parole hearing for release deferred, according to a family campaign group.
John Wilson, also known as John Sanken, brutally murdered Michelle Stewart outside a shop in Drongan in 2008 when she was just 17.
Following Michelle's death, a family campaign group was set up named Michelle's Law, which aims to protect the families of victims and put their welfare at the centre of any decision on parole and early release.
As part of their aim, they hope that Wilson will be located outside of Ayrshire, if he is released one day.
Michelle's killer was handed a life sentence and told he would have to serve 12 years behind bars before being considered for parole.
He was due to have his fifth parole hearing earlier this month, before it was initially rescheduled to yesterday (September 25) and then again to today (September 26).
The family has since said that today's decision has been deferred, with a further date to be set to determine the outcome.
A family group spokesperson said: "The decision from today's hearing has been deferred and a further date will be set.
"Sounds like there is doubt and the board are not convinced he is safe to be released.
"If any doubt at all then it should be a refusal. It is very frustrating that we need to go through this again in a few weeks but meanwhile he is back to jail where he belongs."
