A WOMAN visiting Dumfries House last week had the birthday surprise of a lifetime as she bumped into the King.
King Charles was at the estate last week to meet with representatives of a Police Scotland initiative that targets all forms of violent behaviour.
Dumfries House is the headquarters of The King's Foundation, which transformed the estate into a public space in 2007.

When visiting Dumfries House, Charles often spends his time walking through the grounds and speaking to locals about life.
Last week was no different, as one woman met the head of state as she was taking a birthday stroll through the gardens.
Alice Ryce was celebrating her 87th birthday, when the King gave her “the surprise of her life”.
The King passed on his congratulations to Alice, before having a short conversation with her and then carrying on his way through the grounds.
