Reduced train times to and from Auchinleck are set to continue until at least the beginning of next month in an ongoing row over pay.

ScotRail has been running a temporary, reduced timetable since early July due to staff shortages amid the pay dispute.

Initially, this was set to be in place until the end of August, before then being extended until the middle of September.

Now, a further update provided by ScotRail has said that the temporary timetable will be in place until at least October 6.

This is a result of the ongoing impact of fewer train drivers than normal currently available for overtime or rest day working, as is their contractual right.

A pay offer was submitted to Aslef at the end of August, with the train drivers’ union recommending that members accept the offer which its negotiating team described as “acceptable”.

The decision for workers to accept or reject the pay offer will close on September 25.

For now, trains have been reduced between the New Cumnock and Auchinleck line and Glasgow, meaning travellers only have one train option on a Sunday, and reduced options during the week.

The ScotRail website shows an increased service of trains from Monday, October 7 onwards, with a heavy reduction up to and including Sunday, October 6.

However, for journeys from Monday, October 7 onwards, those traveling are asked to check back nearer the time.
