A MAIN road between Mauchline and Ayr is set to be closed off on two separate nights for rail bridge work.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA), which carries out road maintenance work on behalf of East and South Ayrshire councils, will work on two bridges between Mauchline and Failford next month.

The first closure will be in place just west of Failford, meaning drivers will be able to travel as far as the hamlet that evening.

This closure is set to be in place from 10pm on October 12 until 6am on October 13, with the road to be open outside of these times.

Another closure will then be in place near the rail bridge just outside of Mauchline, travelling towards Ayr.

This road is set to be closed from 10pm on October 14 until 6am on October 15.
