A POLICE enquiry has been launched following a crash in Auchinleck on Sunday night.
Officers were called to the town at around 8.20pm on September 15 following reports of the collision between a car and an off-road motorbike.
Around the time of the incident, locals had reported that a force helicopter was seen scouring the area around Main Street, Coal Road and Church Hill.
Police Scotland have since confirmed that this was deployed to locate the rider and passenger of the bike - who had left the scene following the crash.
They were later traced and taken to hospital where they received treatment before being released.
No update was provided in relation to the condition of those in the car involved in the collision.
Officers have now launched an enquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.20pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024, we received a report of a crash involving a car and an off-road motorbike.
“Officers attended however the rider and passenger of the motorbike had left the scene. They were later traced and received hospital treatment before being released.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
"Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 3050 of September 15.”
