A COMMUNITY group in Auchinleck is hosting a free health check event next week.

Auchinleck Community Development Initiative (ACDI) will put on the event at the Boswell Centre, with a focus on recovery and men's mental health during national Recovery Month in September.

ACDI was set up over two years ago, with the idea of helping people in the area with recovery and overcoming addiction.

Since then, they've helped hundreds of people with support groups and events like the one being held next week.

It will take place on Wednesday, September 18 from 10am-3pm.

You can grab a coffee, have a chat and find out ways to improve your health.

ACID has teased that "local footballing heroes" will be joining the event.

There will be an opportunity to get your bloody pressure checked, as well as get checked for the likes of diabetes and cholesterol, and test your BMI.
