A yellow weather warning is in place for across East Ayrshire today (September 2).
The Met Office has sent out the alert for thunderstorms which covers the east coast of Scotland, as well as large proportion of the central area of the country.
However, neighbouring South and North Ayrshire appear to be getting off the hook, with the warning spreading as far west as Mauchline and Dalmellington, according to the Met Office website.
The warning is in place now until midnight tonight.
It says: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost".
