Drivers from across Ayrshire got the chance to brush up on their driving skills at an event this week.
The free ‘Fit for the Road’ event was held at Largs Sailing Club on Tuesday (August 20), and involved presentations from Police Scotland, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and a local optician.
It gave motorists the chance to test their driving knowledge and receive advice from road safety professionals at an event organised by Ayrshire Roads Alliance, operating on behalf of East and South Ayrshire Councils, and North Ayrshire Council road safety teams.
Guests also got to try the online Highway Code Theory and Hazard Perception tests, watch a demonstration of CPR and defibrillation by Scottish Fire and Rescue, and visit various information stands.
Local members of RoSPA Advanced Drivers and IAM Roadsmart carried out assessed drives in the driver’s own vehicle on the day too.
East Ayrshire councillor Jim McMahon, Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing, Transport and Communities, said: “Events like these are useful for even the most experienced drivers as it’s important to keep up to date with the latest road safety information so that all road users remain as safe as possible.
"Thanks to everyone who came along and took part in what was a very informative and successful event.”
