THE former home of James Boswell will open to the public for two days.
The Landmark Trust will be opening the doors of Auchinleck House, in a rare chance to explore the building, built by Alexander Boswell between 1755 and 1760.
A free open will take place between 10am-4pm on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
Auchinleck House is an 18th-century home that has been inhabited since the 19th century, and the remains of Auchinleck Castle and Auchinleck Old House stand in the estate.
The A-listed building as it stands today, was believed to have been built around 1760 by Alexander Boswell, Lord Auchinleck.
During the Second World War, the then Laird of Auchinleck gave permission for Officers from the armies of Poland, Canada and France to live in Auchinleck House.
More recently, the Scottish Historic Buildings trust repaired the roof of the house, and in 1999 it was bought by the Landmark Trust.
The restoration of Auchinleck House was completed in 2001 by The Landmark Trust and was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland and the Royal Oak Foundation.
Pre-booking is preferred, but not essential.
