There are lots of events happening in Cumnock and the surrounding areas happening over the next few weeks - starting this with weekend.

With schools due to go back next week, this weekend offers the last opportunity to get in some fun before heading back to the classrooms.

Here's a list of some of the events taking place.

Sanquhar riding of the marches- until Sunday, August 18

Starting last Friday, August 9, Sanquhar's riding of the marches event offers more than a week of fun, with plenty on offer on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

D In The Park- Saturday, August 17

The team at The Boolers in the village, along with Drongan United Grassroot, are hosting their very own D In The Park event.

The D In The Park event is set to include all sorts from live music, fun rides, alpacas, laser tag and much more.

Running from 11am-4pm, wristbands can be purchased for £5 on the day and offers unlimited access to rides and some activities.

Woodroad Park fun day- Sunday, August 18

Woodroad Park and Leisure Group will be bringing back its fun day to the town, following on from the success of its first event last year.

The group, created to draw people back to the once-popular summer hotspot in Cumnock, will look to make this year's event bigger and better.

Taking place from 12-4pm, the day will offer entertainment, games, food stalls and much more.

Mauchline 5k fun run and family fun day- Sunday, August 25

Organised by the Mauchline Community Association SCIO team based at Centre Stane, the day will kick off with a 5km run around Mauchline.

There will also be the likes of a zip wire, climbing wall, alpacas, inflatables, refreshments and much more on offer.

New Cumnock FitFest- Sunday, September 1

New Cumnock Development Trust will ring back the popular FitFest event, following on from last year's success.

The day will once again include the likes of a huge inflatable assault course, a zip line and many other fitness-related activities.
