Scottish Water says a repair is underway for an issue affecting people in the KA18 postcode area.
An update posted on the company's website said that residents may experience an interruption to water supplies, as they are carrying out essential maintenance on the water network.
Scottish Water said letters have been distributed to all customers affected by the works to provide advance notification of the planned interruption to water supplies.
The estimated completion time for the repair is 3pm.
The team expects to complete the works in a timeframe which means we do not plan to provide bottled water.
It's added that water supply will gradually return to normal for customers once the work has been completed.
The KA18 postcode covers Cumnock, Auchinleck, Ochiltree, New Cumnock, Muirkirk, Smallburn, Lugar and Logan.
