An annual bowling has recently been held in Sanquhar in memory of a young footballer who tragically lost his life.
The tournament has taken place every year since 2022, in honour of Ross Cook.
Nineteen-year-old Ross who tragically died in a train accident near Kirkconnel train station in February 2018.
After leaving Sanquhar Academy, the teen, who played for Queen of the South and Nithsdale Wanderers, attended Abertay University where he studied sport and business management. He also played for the university football team.

A football tournament has also previously been held to remember Ross.
The Ross Cook Memorial Bowling Tournament was held on Sunday, July 28 at Sanquhar Bowling Club and involved an incredible 24 teams.
This included some members of Abertay University, where Ross previously attended.
Ross' mum, Mag, presented the Ross Cook Memorial Cup to the winning team.
Also present on the day were Ross' dad Stephen and sister Ashley.
