The Dunaskin Doon Band would fly the Scottish flag at the National Brass Band Championships in 2014. The national gig came after they placed second in their section at the Scottish Brass Band Championships in Perth.

Mauchline husband and wife team Una and Morton Houston completed a charity cycle on behalf of the Ayrshire Hospice in July 2014. The cycle involved 300 miles over four days, raising more than £4,200.

Former Cumnock Academy Dux Martin Paton was celebrated by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications for his performance at Strathclyde University in 2014. The 21-year-old had obtained a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics and Statistics after grafting his socks off for four years.
