This week, we take a look back at the big Cumnock and Doon Valley stories and pics from July 2009.

Talented Jan Laird, 18, from Cronberry held her first art exhibition in Mauchline in July 2009. And she was shocked after crowds of people flocked to the Many Thanks Scottish gift shop to view her work.

World-renowned Pipe Major Gordon Walker launched a bid to attract more kids from the area into piping. Gordon, from Cumnock, had just returned to the area as Pipe Major of the Mauchline and Caledonia Band.

New Cumnock Parish Church’s annual Holiday Club was a big success in July 2009 and saw 52 children taking part during the week.
