Businesses and organisations are being invited to get involved in a fun-filled day planned at the Woodroad Park next month.

Woodroad Park and Leisure Group will be bringing back its fun day to the town, following on from the success of its first event last year.

The group, created to draw people back to the once-popular summer hotspot in Cumnock, will look to make this year's event bigger and better.

This year's event is taking place on Sunday, August 18 from 12-4pm, and businesses can sign up to get involved.

Any company looking to have a stall on the day, or provide entertainment, can email the Woodroad group at woodroadparkandleisuregroup@gmail.com or contact them on Facebook.

Woodroad Park and Leisure Group, in conjunction with Cumnock Action Plan 2022 and beyond, have plans to bring people and the families back to the park, and upgrade the facilities on offer through time.

The fun day is just one way that they plan to draw people back to the once-popular area.

Other plans include the possibility of bringing back the tennis courts at the park, as well as upgrading the park facilities.

The new group is being chaired by Cumnock and New Cumnock Councillor, Neill Watts, who has been vocal about his hopes of improving the vision of Woodroad Park for a long time.

Speaking about the planned event, Cllr Watts said: "It will be much the same as last year’s event. We ended up with around 18 local organisations, so this year we want to expand that as much as we can.

"The whole idea of days like these are to get people back to the Woodroad and showing potential investors that there is a desire for the area to be used."

More information about this event, and other things happening at the park, will be posted on the Woodroad Park & Leisure Group Facebook page.
