Eight weeks of traffic management is set to hit Cumnock from next month.

Work is being carried out in the town by Scottish Water, as part of work to upgrade works on the local water network.

Starting from Monday, July 1, an eight-week programme of work will take place.

From July 1, a single-lane priority system will be in place for vehicles on Underwood Road.

Then, from July 15, traffic management systems will be in place along Auchinleck Road near to the Barony Campus.

This will include temporary traffic lights and lane restrictions, to allow the work to be carried out safely.

These works are not expected to have any impact on normal water supplies in the area.

Scottish Water says the work to upgrade the water pipes is to support community growth and ensure residents continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water, and reduce the chance of pipes bursting.

Local residents and road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.
