Praise has been heaped upon an Ochiltree care provider following a recently-published report.

The Care Inspectorate released a report Spark of Genius' Netherton Complex just outside of Ochiltree.

An overall rating of 'very good' was given to the team for how well they support children and young people's rights and wellbeing.

Key messages from the report highlighted that young people were kept safe, staff had developed strong relationships with the youngsters, youngsters were strongly supported, and that staff had addressed previous areas for improvement.

Requirements had included the improvement of quality of admissions assessments for children and young people and improve the completion of service documentation and develop robust auditing of these recordings to support improved planning.

The report stated that these requirements were met within the timescale.

Praise in the report centred around how staff had forged strong connections with the youngsters at the service.

The report said: "Young people were confidently interacting with staff, seeking guidance, support or time to play. They were relaxed and comfortable around the staff.

"Staff and management had responded to concerns raised by young people in a timely manner and appropriate action taken.

"Staff developed these positive relationships whilst offering the young people activities of interest or in trying new experiences.

"Young people's legal and human rights were respected. Young people's engagement with care planning was promoted, ensuring their voice was being heard.

"Some young people had been supported under continuing care arrangements and were continuing to be supported through their choice to transition onto more independent living."
