Plans for a new Mauchline home to built metres away from a neighbouring property have been given the green light.

An application had been submitted to East Ayrshire Council earlier this year by JKM Consultancy, on behalf of Mr Namaan Shafiq.

Approval will see the four-bedroom home built on land just off of Hamilton Avenue, at its junction with Lochlea Avenue.

The land is currently open grassland, but is next to a semi-detached property on Lochlea Avenue.

A previous application for a home on the land by the same applicants was withdrawn in September 2023.

That application sparked objections from a number of local residents, who raised concern at its proximity to the house next door.

Those withdrawn plans included a 1.8 metre high boundary fence, something which also features in the new application.

The newest application did not receive any official objections, and was given the green light earlier this week.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, which deals with roads issues on behalf of East Ayrshire Council, says that a road opening permit will be required for the dropped kerb footway access crossing.
