PLANS to set up a hair salon in the back garden of a Mauchline home have been lodged with council officials.

A proposal has been submitted to East Ayrshire Council which could see the new business launched at a property in the Hillhead Heights development.

The application, on behalf of Miss Claire Wilson, would see a new garden building be built at Hillhead Crescent, which would be used as a hair salon business and a tool storage shed.

The current garden is backed up by a row of trees, with neighbouring gardens to the left and right.

An initial application was submitted in May for pre-application advice.

Due to the nature of the application and the intended creation of a business, a full planning application was lodged earlier this month.

Plans says: "Proposed garden building intended to be used as a hairdressing salon and for garden took storage (separated from salon), WC included with toilet and wash station.

"This building is intended for garden tool storage and for the operation of a small personal hair dressing salon by the home owner.

"The building has been designed in accordance with permitted development guidance and is currently being assessed by building control in accordance with the Non Domestic Technical Handbook of April 2024."

A decision on the plans is expected to be made by the beginning of August.
