A CUMNOCK youth football side have paid tribute to their departing coach as he sets off for pastures new.

Ryan McGregor started Cumnock Juniors' 2011 side alongside his brother Lewis some nine years ago - while the pair were both still at school.

He was worked tirelessly in his time with the youngsters, helping develop the skills of several talented players over the years.

However, the much-loved figure is now set to leave the side as he begins a new chapter of his life.

Ryan is set to get married next month and his made the difficult decision to step away from his role at this time.

As the club announced his departure, they moved quick to pay tribute to Ryan and all he has done for the club since starting the team nearly a decade ago.

A spokesperson said: "It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the departure of head coach Ryan McGregor.

"The commitment Ryan has shown the team over the years is remarkable and is totally appreciated by the boys and parents he has worked with.

"He leaves us with his head held high after the work he has done at such a young age and on behalf of the players, parents and coaches - all past and present - we want to wish Ryan and Jenna the very best for their wedding day and beyond.

"Thank you very much Ryan for the position you leave us in."
