THE organisers of the New Cumnock Show have paid tribute to all those who helped make the 2024 event another spectacular success story.

The annual agricultural show, which this year celebrated its 75th anniversary, brought farmers, their friends and families and members of the public from far and wide to Laight Farm.

An all-female line-up of judges, featuring Alison Lawrie in the dairy cattle section, Nicola Kelso in the beef cattle classes, and Una Graham, Fiona Gilligan and Jenna Ballantyne in the sheep lines, chose a Blue Texel ewe, Hodges Gold Dust, shown by Jim Hodge and his sons James and Daniel, of Dykes, Auchinleck, as their champion of champions.

No stranger to the top awards, the winner was the inter-breed champion at the recent Catrine Show, and was also breed champion at Ayr in May.

The dairy champion was shown by Salvy Esquierdo and Robbie and Margo Scott of Nethervalley Holsteins, Tarbolton, while the beef champion was a Limousin cross bullock exhibited by Daniel Smith of North Boig, New Cumnock.

Gregor Brown took home the young handler championship, ahead of Rory Brown in second place and Alice McCornick in third.

A spokesperson for the New Cumnock Young Farmers Club, which organises the event, said: “It was another successful show and a great day.

Cumnock Chronicle:

“Congratulations to all the trophy winners, and thank you to everyone who came along to support our little show and who helped out on the day.”
