A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for across Ayrshire this afternoon (May 28).
The warning is in place from between 3pm today until midnight for thunderstorms in the region.
Spreading across parts of Ayrshire, as well as the rest of South Scotland, the warning states that there is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads.
It also adds that there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
The Met Office website has a list of five tips for staying safe in a thunderstorm.
